Loretta Webb, one of our Patient Group Volunteers, joins us for 5 minutes….

Loretta, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I am a volunteer for Get A-Head as well as a patient group member. I am 45 years old with 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl aged 21, 20, 17 and 16 and a granddaughter who was 1 in February.

What does your volunteering involve?

I do a number of things including the wonderful Annual Ball, Patient Group Christmas Party, Awareness Bus and different events.

How long have you been working with Get A-Head?

4 years as I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer 5 years ago and got involved as my journey began.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Football (watching), walking the dog and looking after my beautiful granddaughter, concerts and musicals.

What is your dream holiday destination?

Canada (to stalk Bryan Adams)

What would you do if you won the lottery?

Go to Canada, donate to Get A-Head, treat the family and buy a house by the sea in Sand Bay, Somerset.

What is your favourite book?

I love an autobiography but a favourite is Behind Closed Doors by Jenny Tomlin (Martine McCutcheon’s Mom)

Tell us one surprising fact about yourself

You will find me most weekends a West Bromwich Football ground in the loud Smethwick end where I am a season ticket holder with 2 of my boys.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with Get A-Head?

The wonderful friendships I have made and inspirational people I have met.

What would you say to people who have made a donation or volunteered for Get-A-Head?

Thank you! It is a very worthwhile charity; I for one owe them an awful lot and enjoy giving something back.
