Saturday 30th November, was a very special evening, holding this years most anticipated charity ball.

Over 500 guests arrived looking glamorous and handsome in their evening dress, they were welcomed to the evening held at the Hilton Metropole, with a drinks reception supplied by PurityBrewing Co and Matthew Clark , and hosted by Paul Hales of The Lovely Pub company

After welcome drinks, guests were shown through to our spectacular room, dressed in all its glory, with beautifully laid out tables, purple and black covered chairs, gorgeous centre pieces, a back drop of sparkle and a very cool white LED dance floor, all superbly organised by Lemon Zest Events

We were welcomed in to the room by a number from Blayz, a four piece string quartet girl group, who then played for us during dinner and where outstanding! Grace was said by Lord Digby Jones before dinner.  The evening was jam packed full of entertainment, and was expertly compared by the wonderful Mike Osman.

Tom Bromwich, Chairman of Get A-Head, thanked all who had attended and all those that played a part in the evening during his speech and went on to say Get A-Head are going from strength to strength and we are heading into our 20th year in a strong position and will continue to strive to achieve our goal of helping patients and their families suffering with head and neck disease and head and neck cancers.

Kev Orkian wowed the crowd and finished up with a standing ovation after an hilarious set of comedy fun, teasing Tom Bromwich with his kiss chase stories and bringing the house down with his dance off session!

After dinner we had speeches from Professor John Watkinson, followed by a very moving speech by Charlie Jaggard who paid tribute to Get A-Head for the work we do in supporting the more rare types of cancer such as ACC and MTC.

A short film about the charity was then shown to the guests, to highlight the work we are involved with and how we have  been using the funds we are raising.  Please click here to watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4DxV1mJSWY0

This then lead us in to the main auction of the evening, with a Triumph motorbike being up for grabs in the first lot, followed by many other exceptional prizes, such as a Bespoke Hand-Made Suit donated by Clements and Church , 2 Tickets with full hospitality to the Ryder cup at Gleneagles  donated by Monitise and a whole host of other fab prizes. Over £36,000 was raised during the main auction which is a phenomenal amount of money, and we are very grateful to all who donated prizes for this.

We also had lots more fundraising going on during the evening in the forms of Heads and Tails, a Raffle, silent auction all with fantastic prizes and  our teddy bear pledge and kind donations all of these raising a further £29,000

Julian Clary was the head line act and entertained the room with his fun one man show, inviting the audience to witness his wedding to a member of the room, frilly dresses n all!

The evening ended on a real high with live music and a wow performance from the RPJ band, the white LED  dance floor certainly got put through its paces as the crowd were pulling out all the moves and enjoying the electric atmosphere!
