The newly published 10-Year Health Plan for England offers a bold vision for the future of healthcare.
Danni Heath, director of Get A-Head, welcomed the promising focus on prevention and innovation, but highlighted the need for a clear implementation plan.
She said: “We’re pleased to see important aspects like prevention prioritised, especially with efforts around smoking, alcohol consumption and HPV vaccination, which are critical for preventing head and neck cancers.
“Innovation in research, diagnostics and treatment, including AI and genomics, is also promising. But without an implementation plan, it’s unclear how these ambitions will be achieved.
“We need to see commitments turned into action with the necessary funding, resources and partnerships to deliver real change.”
The Government is yet to release its National Cancer Plan but it is expected to be published before the year is out.
Danni added: “We are hopeful that this will in turn provide a more detailed commitment on tackling the current cancer crisis in England.
“It’s absolutely critical that the plan benefits people with all cancer types and we are obviously keen to ensure any efforts to reduce health inequalities include head and neck cancers.”
