An annual charity clay shoot event has raised a further £20,000 for Birmingham-founded Get A-Head – an organisation supporting people with head and neck cancer.
The event attracted teams from across the country to the iconic Holland & Holland Shooting Grounds on the outskirts of London.
It’s an annual fixture in the charity’s fundraising calendar and each year raises substantial sums of money to support cutting-edge research into head and neck cancer, education of medical professionals and vital equipment not funded by the NHS.
Get A-Head director, Danni Heath, described the day as another huge success both on and off the shooting stands.
“It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces and new supporters come together to champion Get A-Head and raise vital funds for the work we do to support head and neck cancer patients.
“Every ticket bought, every team entered, every donation made helps us fund research, improve treatment pathways and support patients and families at some of the most difficult moments of their lives.
“During the 2024-2025 period we raised more than £220,000 to support our work and we distributed more than £194,000 in grants, helping to accelerate research, improve treatment pathways and enhance patient support.
“We contributed £40,000 to the national Head and Neck Cancer Audit – a project that is absolutely vital if we’re going to improve outcomes and ensure patients receive consistent, high‑quality care wherever they live.
“And we funded five major research studies and awarded more than £60,000 in grants for equipment and patient support, helping clinicians and charities deliver better care on the ground.
“The money raised from this year’s clay shoot will enable us to continue this vital work.”
The event began with a welcome and briefing, followed by a morning of clay shooting across the grounds. Elevenses, on-the-spot fundraising challenges and a live auction added to the day’s success before guests were treated to a drinks reception and a gourmet lunch in the lodge.
The post-lunch speeches highlighted both the purpose and achievements of Get A-Head, which has raised more than £10 million across its 32-year history.
Guests also heard from the organisations and individuals who have received funding support from the charity, whose chairman is businessman Tom Bromwich from Coventry-based commercial property agents Bromwich Hardy.
Danni added: “I cannot thank everyone enough for their support, from our fantastic sponsors to every single attendee.
“These funds will allow us to continue funding research, purchasing equipment, and providing life-changing support for those facing head and neck diseases. Seeing the generosity on display reminds us why we do what we do.”
The event, organised by Wilde & Glorious, received support from sponsors Kenilworth-based CEF and Coventry-based The Wigley Group.
